Gaffel SonnenHopfen on the winner’s podium of the Kalea beer calendar

Cologne, 2 February 2023 – By now, the calendars of the Salzburg-based company Kalea have become an Advent tradition. They have established themselves in Austria and Germany as a beery alternative to conventional Advent calendars.

There were 24 beers in last year’s Germany edition, including the Cologne Pale Ale Gaffel SonnenHopfen. They could be rated on the BeerTasting app for iOS and Android. In total, there were over 50,000 votes for the beers on the calendar. Visitors to the app were able to rate colour, foam, aroma and taste, with the taste components accounting for over 60 percent of the overall rating.

Among the 24 beers in the Advent Calendar Germany, Gaffel SonnenHopfen took third place. “We are very happy about this ranking,” says Sebastian Lenninghausen, Product Manager Marketing at Gaffel. “Because the ratings come directly from consumers who gave us their vote in the environment of national beers.”

Gaffel SonnenHopfen is brewed with Citra hops, which give the beer aromas of lime, grapefruit and tropical fruits. The Cologne Pale Ale is unfiltered. This means that many important nutrients from the brewing process are preserved.
