Gaffel pours at world-famous beer festival in Copenhagen
Cologne, May 3, 2023 – A guest of good friends! From May 5 to 6, the private brewery Gaffel will be represented at one of the largest beer festivals in Europe, the Mikkeller Beer Celebration Copenhagen (MBCC).
Since 2012, craft pioneer Mikkeller has been inviting friendly breweries to the Danish capital. Over 100 brewers from around the world will present more than 800 different beers over two days.
At the retro bar, Gaffel will be serving not only the classic Kölsch but also the light, naturally cloudy Wiess. “This is our third time at the MBCC,” says product manager Sebastian Lenninghausen. “The interest is huge every year. As real Kölsch from Cologne, we enjoy cult status there. The way we present ourselves as a classic and traditional brewery at a craft beer festival also appeals to beer fans from all over the world.”
Mikkeller and Gaffel have been in partnership for years. Together, the two breweries have launched the collab brew Viking Kölsch. The Mikkeller Kölsch for Copenhagen was also brewed in Cologne and distributed through Mikkeller bars around the world and in the Mikkeller store.
“The acceptance of German breweries and beer styles such as Kölsch, Pils or Weizen has increased enormously in the international craft beer scene,” emphasizes Mikkel Borg Bjergsø, CEO and owner of Mikkeller Brewery. “This is because high-quality brewed beers with a high level of drinkability are increasingly in demand. That’s another reason why I’m delighted that Gaffel is back.”
